Slovenia's premier attacks on Tajani, historical revisionism

(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 11 - Slovenia's prime minister Marjan Sarec strongly condemned the words of the President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani, calling them an expression of ''unprecedented historical revisionism''. ''Fascism was a fact, and was intended to destroy the Slovenian people'', the premier wrote on his Twitter account. Tajani yesterday at the foiba of Basovizza, on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance, ended his speech by exclaiming ''Hooray for Trieste, hooray for Italian Istria, hooray for Italian Dalmatia, hooray for the Italian exiles, hooray for their heirs'', ''Hooray for those who defend the values of our country ''. Almost all Croatian MEPs expressed their outrage at Tajani's statements. Croatia's premier Andrej Plenkovic asked for clarification. ''I expressed my outrage - he said - and I strongly oppose Tajani's statements, containing elements of territorial claims and historical revisionism''.(ANSA).
