A delegation of the CEI-Executive Secretariat (CEI-ES), led by the Secretary General Roberto Antonione, paid a visit to Tirana on 28 February 2023, to meet the Deputy Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania, Megi Fino. A meeting was also held with the Secretary General of the Ministry, Gazmend Turdiu.
A delegation from the CEI-Executive Secretariat (CEI-ES), led by Secretary General Roberto Antonione, visited Belgrade on 24 February to meet with the First Deputy Prime Minister responsible for foreign policy and security and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivica Dačić.

The 1st Committee of National Coordinators Meeting under the Moldovan CEI Presidency was held at the CEI HQ in Trieste on 14 February.

The project "Bio.Re.Goal - To enhance the institutional and regulatory framework for organic food production in Albania" concluded its activities yesterday 3 February, with an international conference at Rogner Hotel in Tirana.

On 24 January SG Roberto Antonione took part in the conference “Italy and the Western Balkans: growth and integration”, organised by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Economy and Finance, aimed at relaunching Italy's central role in the Western Balkans, and at accelerating the EU enlargement process of the region.

Key players linked to the maritime and transport sector and the academia have recently gathered in Venice and Trieste to attend the last three seminars of the cycle of meetings on “Green Jobs” focused on the ports of the North Adriatic.

After three years of fruitful cooperation, the partners of the SUSTOURISMO project, funded under the Interreg ADRION Programme, gathered for their final conference on 7 December 2022 at the Trieste Convention Centre.

The CEI-Executive Secretariat took part in the 16th Coordination Meeting of Regional Organisations held at the Permanent International Secretariat of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC), in Istanbul, Türkiye on 8 December. 

On 8 December, representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Transport of the Republic of Bulgaria, non-governmental organisations and transport companies, gathered in Brussels to attend the Expert Panel “An Integrated Concept of Connectivity for the CEI Region".
The activities - addressed to Ukrainian students (aged 12-16) and teachers - include training opportunities in financial and computer literacy, career guidance, emotional intelligence, communication, time management and other soft skills.
More than 30 delegates from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Ministries of Health of CEI Member States gathered in Sofia on 28 November to attend the three-day Health Diplomacy Course on Building health resilience in SEE Region through bridging science, policy and diplomacy to advance the SDG Agenda: Health Unites People. 

On 1 December, the CEI-Executive Secretariat reiterated its cooperation with the Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative Secretariat (RAI) with the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

A delegation from the CEI-Executive Secretariat, led by Secretary General Roberto Antonione, visited Chisinau on 28-29 November for consultations on next year’s CEI Presidency under the Republic of Moldova.

On 21 November 2022 the UN General Assembly, recalling its resolution 66/111 of 9 December 2011 by which it granted observer status to the CEI, adopted the Resolution on Cooperation between the United Nations and the Central European Initiative by a recorded vote of 102 countries in favour to 5 against with 28 abstained. This was the first time a Resolution was put to vote (previous resolutions were consensus-based), since, among other issues, the document reflects the consequences of the Russian aggression in Ukraine.

On 18 November the CEI- Executive Secretariat participated in the high-level Balkan Economic Forum ”For a brighter future” in Skopje North Macedonia.

More than 250 participants attended the XVI South East Europe Media Forum (SEEMF) held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, on 16-17 November 2022 under the title “The role of media in times of global uncertainties”.
