On 18 April the Interreg Central Europe project GRETA - Greening Regional fReight Transport in fuAs - kick-started its activities under the coordination of the Institute for Transport and Logistics Foundation (ITL).

As a follow-up of the 2021 edition focused on “Music diplomacy”, this year’s CEI Piano Forum (Sacile, Italy, 2-6 May) – organised by the Association Piano FVG - provided a platform for exchanging good practices and experiences, but also ideas and prospects to support the young musicians from the CEI region in their early career. Special attention was paid to the need for strengthening the mobility of musicians; the perspectives offered by the multimedia technologies; the promotion of gender equality and equal opportunities for male and female musicians.

Through the CEI Fund at the EBRD, Italy is providing support to micro and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Moldova by financing the technical assistance project “Advice for Small Businesses in Moldova (Youth and Skills)” with 300,000 EUR.

Representatives of the national water regulators of Albania, Montenegro and North Macedonia met in Brussels on 4-5 May, in the framework of the official launch of the project “Assessing the effectiveness and affordability of tariff-setting methodologies in covering drinking water and wastewater services costs in the Western Balkans” financed by Italy under the CEI Know-how Exchange Programme.

Upon invitation from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Elmedin Konaković, Secretary General Roberto Antonione participated in the opening of the event “Mid-term Evaluation of the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in AII member states”, held in Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina) on 5 May. 

Today, at the margins of the event “Mid-term Evaluation of the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in AII member states”, held in Banja Luka, (Bosnia and Herzegovina), CEI Secretary General Roberto Antonione met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković.

The Original Boost Bootcamp, a remarkable initiative organised by the Novak Djokovic Foundation's Original Platform, brought together inspiring women from Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Hungary, Bulgaria, and North Macedonia, to champion and discuss female empowerment in diverse fields.

Thanks to the 1st place winning project "Active young citizens for sustainable development in Bulgaria", on 11-17 March, the CEI beneficiaries had the chance to visit the United Nations headquarters in New York, where they got to know the work of the global forum in depth, visited the halls where the General Assembly and the United Nations Security Council meet, and met H.E. Lachezara Stoeva, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Bulgaria to the United Nations and President of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

The second meeting of the Committee of National Coordinators (CNC) under the CEI Moldovan Presidency 2023 was held at the Mission of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union (EU) in Brussels on 20 April.

On 4 - 5 April, the CEI - Executive Secretariat (CEI-ES) hosted the kick-off meeting of the three-year project SUSTANCE (Sustainable public transport solutions and innovative governance schemes for improving connectivity in Central Europe), co-financed by the Interreg Central Europe Programme 2021-2027.

In the framework of the Ministerial meeting on the Western Balkans chaired by the Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani, SG Roberto Antonione participated on 3 April in Rome in the conference titled "New vision for the Western Balkans: EU accession and regional security”.
The gathering  - as part of the training activities in the European project "Pre and Post" - was organised by the Prosecutor Office of Trieste. It witnessed the participation of public Prosecutors of Austria, Croatia, Italy and Slovenia. 
The 14th Equal Pay Day conference  - organised by the non-profit organisation Business and Professional Women CR (BPWCR) in Prague on 31 March-2 April - brought together around 30 speakers, 80 mentors and 600 attendees to debate new trends in women's entrepreneurship and equal opportunities as well as to promote networking opportunities and experience sharing.

On 29 March, the Consortium of the CEI-led NAMIRS project gathered in Rijeka, Croatia to discuss the advancement of activities and to plan upcoming actions.

On 30 March Deputy Secretary General Zsuzsanna Kiràly participated in the Western Balkans 6 (WB6)-EU Business Platform in Skopje gathering members of the WB6 CIF Business Council, representatives of the region’s private sector, the European Commission, and regional stakeholders.

The CEI - Executive Secretariat (CEI-ES) has once again supported this year's OberMUN titled "Debating today for a brighter tomorrow". It is the Model United Nations simulation (MUN) that is annually organised by the Trieste-based high school Liceo Scientifico “Guglielmo Oberdan” involving students from various countries.

The KEP Project "Supporting the Albanian Regulatory Authority to improve the efficiency of the wholesale electricity market" started with a launch event and workshop in Tirana on 29-30 March.

Parliamentary Delegations from CEI Member States gathered in Bucharest, Romania, on 27-28 March for the meeting of the General Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Rozália-Ibolya Biró, Head of the Romanian Delegation to the CEI Parliamentary Dimension (PD).

The PROCAREFUL project  -  co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the Interreg Central Europe (CE) Programme -  formally started its activities in Treviso on 14-15 March.

On 10 March the presentation of the Concert of Friendship realised by the LIONS CLUB INTERNATIONAL - Committee Lions Club Northern Adriatic through the Music Conservatory "Giuseppe Tartini"  was held at the CEI Headquarters in Trieste.
