KEP ITALY: supporting creation of networks and clusters in maritime sector in Montenegro

On 21-24 March, a study tour in Trieste was organised in the framework of the project “Maritime Cluster Cooperation Italy-Montenegro - MaCCIM”. The project’s main goal is to support Montenegrin partners in setting up a district related to 'blue economy' businesses. This project is co-financed by the CEI Know-how Exchange Programme through the CEI Fund at the EBRD with 40,000 EUR.

MaCCIM is led by the Italian know-how provider Mare Technology Cluster Friuli Venezia Giulia (FVG) with the partnership with ARIES, the Special Agency of the Chamber of Commerce of Trieste. The Montenegrin delegation was composed of representatives of the Chamber of Economy, officials from the Department for maritime security, the Dean of the Faculty of Marine Sciences Montenegro and Directors and officers from the Ports of Bar and Kotor. During the study tour, the Italian organisers transferred their know-how on the creation of networks and clusters in the maritime sector to the Montenegrin counterparts.

Moreover, Montenegrin partners gained know-how on FVG sectoral best practices, meeting with representatives of enterprise networks (Refitting System Trieste, Trieste Yacht Berths), Shipping Agents Association, University of Trieste, Trieste Passengers Terminal, Mare Technology Cluster FVG and some of the FVG shipbuilding companies.
