EU project COME-IN!: museum accessibility solutions tested in Vienna

The Partners of the project  COME-IN! (Cooperating for Open access to Museums – towards a widEr INclusion), co-funded under the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE Programme, met in Vienna on 13-14 February and agreed on the final version of the Report on Accessibility in Central Europe. The document provides a set of necessary measures and conditions to make small and medium-sized museums accessible to all.

During the gathering the COME-IN! Guidelines for Accessible Museums were also presented. The document includes intervention measures for full accessibility, training for museum staff and operators as well as innovative solutions based on the accessibility-for-all principle.

The Consortium was invited to the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna for a disability-simulation-tour, where partners learned from their own experience in accessible guided tours and initiatives.

The project, where the CEI acts as Lead Partner, aims at enhancing the Central European cultural heritage, by making small and medium-sized museums accessible to a wider public with different kinds of disabilities. It focuses on the “for all” approach, taking into account all members of society, from the disabled, to children, foreigners and the elderly.
