CEI-PD: Meeting of General Committee on Cultural Affairs in Rome

The event was organised within the CEI Parliamentary Dimension, which along with the Governmental and the Business Dimension, is positioned as one of the three pillars of the CEI. 

The meeting mainly focused on intercultural cooperation promoted by the CEI, with special attention to several best practices developed over the years and supported through CEI instruments, funds and networks. Topics such as interuniversity cooperation and management of linguistic and cultural minorities were debated upon, in line with the priorities of the current CEI Plan of Action.
 
The event was opened by the Chairperson of the CEI-PD General Committee on Cultural Affairs, Sen. Luis Alberto Orellana and the Italian Minister for Education, University and Research, Sen. Stefania Giannini.

The Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and Migration, Sen. Pier Ferdinando Casini, and the Head of the Italian Delegation to the CEI Parliamentary Dimension, Sen. Lodovico Sonego, delivered introductory speeches.
 
In the afternoon session, the representatives of various parliaments of the CEI Member States were addressed by the Chairperson of the CEI General Committee on Political and Home Affairs, Tamara Blažina.
 
The Forum was also attended by the CEI Deputy Secretary General, Erik Csernovitz, and by the Director of the CEI Summer School, Stefano Bianchini.
