KEP Italy: expert workshop about EU legislation on biofuels held in Serbia

The second workshop related to the project “Implementation of Directive 2009/28/EC in the Field of Biofuels and Transport in the Republic of Serbia  - Transfer of Best Practices” (BIOGOS), was held at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce HQs in Belgrade on Thursday, 26 June 2014.

The workshop was divided into two sessions, the first one was moderated by the beneficiary institution, the National Petroleum Committee of Serbia-World Petroleum Council (NPCS-WPC), the second one was coordinated by the know-how provider, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture from the University of Zagreb (UNIZAG FSB) , Croatia. The two sessions represent a segment of the BIOGOS project’s 3 module format, also including a study visit to the institutions and facilities in Croatia in charge of regulating the market of biofuels.

BIOGOS aims at transferring experience related to the implementation of EU legislation, gained by the newest EU Member Country, Croatia, to the target group in neighbouring Serbia. In particular, the BIOGOS project addresses the 2009/28/EC Directive for biofuels in the transport sector.

The project actively contributes to the preparation of Policy Recommendations for the legislative and practical regulation of the biofuels market in the Serbian transport sector, as well as the process of bringing the biofuels market closer to consumers.

The project is co-financed by the CEI Fund at the EBRD (contributed by Italy) in the framework of the CEI Know-How Exchange Programme (KEP Italy). Out of the total project cost of 40,000 EUR, the approved CEI co-financing amounted to 13,000 EUR. The project started in January 2014, and is ending in October 2014.
