EU-funded project WIDER: Steering Committee Meeting in Faro

The 3rd WIDER Steering Committee Meeting took place in Faro (Portugal) on 15-16 April 2014. Organised by the Portuguese project partner - the University of Algarve - in the framework of the WIDER Project, the meeting gathered all project partners as well as a few Local Innovation Community (LIC) experts.

A thorough review of the ongoing activities was the main focus of the meeting, with particular attention on two currently open WIDER Calls. Namely, through specifically designed “innovation vouchers”, WIDER Calls entail a concrete opportunity for SMEs willing to innovate in the eco-smart housing sector, to purchase the knowledge or technology necessary to bridge the innovation gap. The deadline for both Calls, i.e. for Knowledge Providers and SMEs respectively, is now 31 May 2014.

During the Faro gathering the date of the 2nd WIDER Innovation Fair was officially announced to take place in Civitanova Marche (Italy) from 4-7 June 2014. This three-day event called "InnovActors: New challenges and opportunities for Europe" foresees the participation of different regional, national and European innovation stakeholders, who will be involved in a rich agenda of activities, innovation workshops and networking opportunities.

The project WIDER "Green groWing SMEs: Innovation and Development in the energy sector in mEd aRea" is co-financed by the EU Programme MED (2007-2013) with an overall budget of around 2.5 Mio EUR. The project will last 30 months (starting from 1 January 2013) and its consortium includes ten partners from Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, France, Greece, Spain and Portugal.
