Youth Forum: Refugees and Migrants in the New Media in Central-East Europe, Skopje (Macedonia)
The upcoming Youth Forum on Refugees and Migrants in New Media in South-East Europe and Central Europe, organised by the Association for Education Mladiinfo International, will offer the opportunity to examine the process in which migrants and/or refugees are transformed from object to subject in media representation in South Eastern European and Central European countries.
The aim of the Forum is to attract young people (from 18 to 35 years of age) to discuss the new media representation of migrants and/or refugees as well as to boost media quality for impartial reporting and analyses, in particular promoting new media to be more citizen-friendly, interactive and easy to access.
The Forum is a follow-up to the previous Youth Forum: Representation of Minorities in the New Media in CEE, which took place in Skopje in March 2016. Based on the outcome of the prior event, the focus shifted from a general perspective on minorities to the specifically vulnerable group of refugees and migrants as the most represented minority group in the media in SEE and Central European countries.
The Youth Forum is co-financed by the CEI Cooperation Fund.
