Regional conference on Archiving of Contemporary Performing Arts, Ljubljana (Slovenia)
The regional conference is taking place in Ljubljana, Slovenia on 14 October. The event, organised by the Association for the Promotion of Women in Culture – City of Women in cooperation with Bunker, raises the question of archiving and digitalisation, and how to keep these contents alive in time after the festival.
Focused on contemporary performing arts/live arts, the participants will discuss ways of forming the archiving process in order to preserve the life of artistic works (performances, productions, happenings, installations, etc.) and allow these works to be seen and experienced by a broader public.
The event will focus on answering a series of questions, such as: What brings the archiving process in terms of content, and how to contextualise the material. How to classify it, how to avoid the "character of a museum ", closing into cannon, a drawer, history; what does this add to the artistic works and what does it take away? What are the differences between documenting contemporary performing art through photography, film, live recording and the live experience of the performers?
The City of Women Conference will be the first of its kind to try to enhance existing good practices as well as think about new models for archiving, recording and preserving contemporary performing arts.
This event is co-funded by the CEI Cooperation Fund.
