Mosaics Meeting III “New perspectives and challenges in mosaic conservation”, Ohrid (Macedonia)
On the occasion of the 3rd edition of the regional meeting SEE Mosaics, leading experts and interested participants in the field of mosaic conservation will gather in Ohrid, Macedonia on 14-17 September.
Invited speakers from SEE countries as well as from Austria, Italy and Spain will discuss the role of conservation science in mosaic conservation, the classical and advanced documentation techniques as well as alternative movable support for detached mosaics. Each conference day will be dedicated to one of the topics, encouraging all participants to share their experiences in solving different conservation challenges regarding this edition’s theme, and furthermore to present their own activities and projects.
Traditionally, the meeting is held in Ohrid, a city known for its rich collection of antique mosaics listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. Within the last meetings experts examined 22 sites with antique mosaics around Lake Ohrid. Excursions to other sites will be organised during the upcoming meeting, in order to explore the current challenges in the field of mosaic conservation through given examples.
