Macedonia's NATO accession talks begin in Brussels

(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, OCTOBER 18 - Formal accession talks between Nato and Macedonia officially started this morning in Brussels. Today and tomorrow members of the Committee for NATO integration meet with the Macedonian delegation led by the Deputy Prime Minister Radmila Sekerinska-Jankovska at NATO Headquarters. Over the two days, the talks will cover various aspects of membership, including political, military and legal questions. Skopje's adhesion to the Alliance depends on the ratification of the agreement with Greece on the country's new name (Northern Macedonia). Since last Monday, a harsh debate at the Parliament in Skopje is ongoing to approve the deal. Skopje received NATO official invitation on July, 12th. (ANSA).
