Austria: economy grew by 2.6% in 2017

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, SEPTEMBER 25 - The Austrian economy expanded by 2.6% in 2017, slightly below previous estimates, Statistics Austria said in a statement today. The economic upturn continues in Austria, the national statistical offices noted, recalling that the GDP grew by 1.1% in 2015 and by 2% in 2016. Moreover, for the first time in five years, the Austrian economy is projected to grow more than the German one (+2.2%), Statistics Austria added. In 2017, the Austrian statistical office said, the producing sector (4.7% growth) outperformed the service sector (1.8% growth in real terms) and the domestic demand kept rising, together with exports.
